Conversations on Seeing
Conversations on Seeing is a curated video series with wise voices from around the world. Join Elizabeth Wendel and Kevin Campbell as they discuss seeing and healing together. The lessons of Family Finding from five continents, many countries, and cultures: we rarely had to find family members and others who loved, or could learn to love children. Parents and family members we contacted told us they weren’t hiding or lost, simply waiting to be invited into an authentic opportunity to join others in confronting the challenges that most affected the children in their families and communities. We learned that while actual finding of lost persons was rare, seeing fully those in front of us was required in every instance. To see, we must first learn to be seen. Do parents and other family members see us as truly inviting, welcoming, and valuing?
There is a question that must be answered before people can be seen. “Am I standing in the place where I can do the most good in partnership with the family?” Individually the question must be asked, not what will I do in my work, but “who will I BE in my work?”
Joining from living rooms across the globe, we invite wise minds to discuss systems, practice, and family seeing around this question: am I standing in a place where I can do the most good with families?
